The mandatory meeting for parents of winter sports athletes is scheduled for next Monday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. Please note that the location for the meeting has been shifted from the high school auditorium to the Gates Lecture Hall, which is upstairs at the high school.

Senior Kate Desimone is the last runner standing for Canterbury and will compete in Saturday’s New Haven semistate meet at the Plex. The girls race is slated to start at 1:30 p.m. An article in today’s News Sentinel, which lists Desimone as one of the favorites in the race, can be found here.

Jeff Roberts brought his South Side Archers to Canterbury on Saturday night seeking to continue the team’s undefeated season and looking to knock off the perennial sectional champion Cavaliers. Mission accomplished.

In what was an outstanding display of tennis all around, Jerry Gerig’s boys tennis team wasn’t quite able to pull out a victory over No. 13 Homestead on a chilly Friday afternoon at Homestead High School. Freshman Patrick Downs was the last to leave the court; after losing the first set, he pushed Connor Andrews to a third set tiebreak before dropping it, 10-8. On Thursday, the boys’ tennis team struggled to get their 5-0 win over Columbia City High School in the semi-finals of sectionals. While the three singles players were able to win in straight sets, the two doubles teams both split sets.
