The draw for the girls basketball sectional matchups was conducted today at IHSAA headquarters. Below is the schedule for Sectional 51, which will be hosted by Canterbury. All after-school events at Canterbury have been cancelled for Wednesday afternoon and evening, which includes the boys JV and varsity basketball games tonight against Elmhurst. No date for rescheduling those games has been announced. Practices for all teams have also been cancelled tonight.

Junior forward Tabitha Gerardot was honored before last night’s girls basketball game against Adams Central. Gerardot scored her 1000th point on Saturday against Lakewood Park Christian, but head coach Scott Kreiger chose to wait until the team returned home to make Gerardot’s accomplishment public.

Senior night turned out to be an historic night for Canterbury’s boys and girls swimmers. For the first time in school history, both teams won the same meet on Tuesday night, defeating Bishop Luers and Wayne at Helen P. Brown Natatorium at South Side High School.

Tonight’s boys and girls swim meet at South Side natatorium has been cancelled due to inclement weather. No makeup date has been announced.

The basketball games at Canterbury on Saturday were filled with disappointment, as both the girls and boys varsity teams lost their matchups with tough opponents. Both teams, however, can be proud that their efforts were part of a greater battle, and the two teams combined to bring enough fans to the school to help raise almost $1700 for the American Cancer Society as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign.

Tonight’s boys basketball game against Howe has been postponed, and will now be played at Howe on Wednesday, February 11, with the JV game at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity game following at 7:30.
