Seth Kisler scored 23 points, and Russell Byrd added 22 as Blackhawk Christian knocked off Ben Ottenweller and the Canterbury Cavaliers, 70-45 on Monday night in the championship game of sectional 51 at Hamilton.

Three times a charm

Canterbury’s Tabitha Gerardot scored 16 of her 27 points in the fourth quarter, including 10-of-12 from the free throw line, to lead #2 Fort Wayne Canterbury to its third consecutive Class A state title with a 69-65 victory over #1 Vincennes Rivet.

Friday: Complete state finals preview

The girls basketball team was sent off by students on both campuses this morning, as they headed to Memorial Coliseum for their final practice before their state finals rematch with Vincennes Rivet. Boys earn victory in sectional opener

March 2nd 2010

It was a reversal of fortunes on Monday night for Ben Ottenweller’s Canterbury Cavaliers. After dropping last Friday’s sectional tuneup with Elkhart Christian, the Cavs came out shooting well and were led by Jason Jordan’s 25 points in a 55-43 win over the Eagles to open play at sectional 51. The win means that Canterbury will play the host Hamilton Marines on Friday night at 6 P.M. NewsChannel 15’s highlights from the game can be seen here.

Boys basketball opens sectional play tonight

March 1st 2010

Ben Ottenweller and his Cavaliers begin their pursuit of the school’s first sectional championship tonight when they take on Elkhart Christian at 6 P.M. at Hamilton High School. Canterbury traveled to Elkhart on Friday night and dropped a close decision, 56-51, despite 25 points from junior Jason Jordan, and 15 from freshman Austin Hatch. A win tonight would propel Canterbury to the sectional semifinal on Friday night at 6 P.M. against the winner of tonight’s second game between Howe Military and Hamilton.

Lady Cavs will make short trip to state finals

For the first time in almost 2 months, the Canterbury Lady Cavaliers were challenged. And on Saturday afternoon at the Warsaw Semistate, they proved up to the challenge by holding off a furious Turkey Run comeback to prevail, 58-53, and earn a third straight trip to the state finals.

Girls basketball semistate preview

For the third straight year, the Canterbury Lady Cavaliers are headed to semistate with their eyes on a trip to the state finals. This time around, however, their longest drive of the state tournament is behind them. Canterbury takes on Class A #4 Turkey Run on Saturday at 4 P.M. at Warsaw Community High School for the right to play at Memorial Coliseum in next Saturday’s state finals.
